After viewing Jodie's music video post, as a group we have decided to incorporate split screens into our music video this will make shots more interesting. This way we will be able to tell the story of the boy and girl characters simultaneously. We want to link the two characters together by having similar settings in each of their split screens eventually when they meet it will continue with the one screen. We still want to keep elements of our original narrative, but need to incorporate new ideas such as split screens in order to improve our ideas and keep it aesthetically interesting.

DRAFT POST
Brighton Reccie
On Tuesday 27th September our group went on a location reccie to Brighton, visiting the pier, seaside and general area. Brighton is a popular location for many music videos, especially the pop genre. We started the day by experimenting with establishing shots of the town and sea from the high angle of the pier. Here we also did panning shots of the sea and surrounding are.
INSERT PICTURE
On the beach we did some close ups of feet in the pebbles and a high angle close up of me lying down lip syncing. This was our second attempt at lip syncing and we are much more comfortable with making it look right with the track now. As well as this we did a 360 panning shot which looked really good for establishing the location rather than just a normal pan.
INSERT PANNING SHOT VIDEO
We then found some concrete steps which we were able to shoot some interesting angles of me walking up and down the stairs. Our best shot in this area was a close up of my feet walking up the stairs, this would be a good filler shot within our music video.
INSERT VIDEO
Overall the day was really useful to practise shots for our music video and master the art of lip syncing. It was also useful because we realised how hard filming in public places is because there are people constantly getting in the way and walking into shots. We thought that the location of a seaside was a good idea for our music video, however we would prefer sand instead of pebbles so are considering using Cambersands instead of Brighton.

JR - Idea!
Looking through some old songs I had from way back found this video, I think we should really consider maybe thinking about our narrative after watching this.
I feel the romantic element of this is great and key to what we need to think about
The main drawing is what does it, maybe we could think or an activity which they could do similar?
The two different stories which are set into one is a brilliant idea which could easily work for our video? maybe have our slip screen idea coming back to which we can have these two lives rolling through.
Just an idea, tell me what you think.
Can't Embed, youtube wont allow me...

Concept Development
Concept Development
The music video will contain a narrative which will involved some performance, the actor playing Bruno Mars will not be projected to the audience as the main feature of the video but will in the narrative as a singer or waiter etc.. We are using Dyer idea of the star image: being absent but present at the same time.
We have found several locations in which we can base our narrative these are as followed;
1 - Church in Five Oak Green
This location is accessible to us and easy to get to, therefore makes it a great location, however the age of the church doesn't fit with the image of the song as it's not bright enough. A reccie maybe needed to test if this is a suitable place or not for our video.
2 - Park area
We have looked into many different settings for our video (the romantic parts) one of our ideas was a park or woodland, woodland areas are normally colourful and full of life therefore fits with the convention of our track with its upbeat tone.
3 - Camber Sands
After our reccie at Brighton we decided against pebble beaches as filming on the pebbles was difficult therefore we are looking to perform a reccie at camber sands to see if the images are better in any way
Characters
We are yet to find a 'Bruno Mars' styled boy, we concluded that we needed some performance based narrative in our video as the convention of Bruno Mars video is that he appears in it several times. However the image of Bruno is hard to find and is key to fit with the lip syncing. Our ideal boy would fit this image.
Plot
The general plot of the video is as followed...
1- Girl is in B/W film old fashion most likely to be 1970's look. She is based in a bedroom in which she gets into bed and falls asleep
2 - This goes into a short black out as though she is closing her eyes and then re-opening them but when reopened she awakens to a Modern room and the colour is bright and glowing (dream??)
3 - The girl then goes outside to where she goes to a bus station and meets a boy (this is the lover boy)
4 - They then go through several stages of love in different locations, the convention of a romantic film etc.. ( this will be where the meat of the narrative and performance will take place)
5 - The day draws to an end and night comes fourth to which the end of her dream draws to a close, she awakes again in her dull room
6 - She goes through her normal routine of going to the bus stop
7 - The boy in her dream is there and a fade of colour washes the screen
END
This is a basic outline of what we have come up with so far, most likely subject to change.
Techniques
The main conventions of a Bruno Mars Video is a over usage of Close up shots and POV. Therefore in our video we will be use as many Close ups as possible, also most of the shots with be in POV.
The colour of the video will need to be bright, therefore in post production the saturation of the shots must be high to get this bright playful shot which we are trying to achieve.
Handi-cam is a must as we are going to try create a home movie effect as though the filming was done by the boy in the video.

The girl in the narrative is going to be either of the girls in our group, depending upon chosen boy who fits with him. The Boy who the girl falls in love with is a easier pick as he has no set image to fit but only the created image by our group, this would be; Longer hair, big eyes, tanned skin and preferably tall.

ZS Track Idea
Bruno Mars - Marry You
Lyrics:
Don't say no, no, no, no-no;
Just say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah;
And we'll go, go, go, go-go.
If you're ready, like I'm ready.
In colour.
Running, close up on hands held together.
Close up on faces, spinning around.
Wearing modern clothing, boy and girl. Late teens.
Cause it's a beautiful night,
We're looking for something dumb to do.
Hey baby,
I think I wanna marry you.
Slows down, darker setting, night time?
Not running, slow walking. Swinging hands.
Goes down on one knee and proposes.
Just say I do,
Tell me right now baby,
Tell me right now baby. [x2]
Close up on faces smiling.
Is it the look in your eyes,
Or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares baby,
I think I wanna marry you.
Girl wakes up and realises it was all a dream.
Looks down and sees a ring on her finger.
Is now in old fashioned clothing again. Back to black and white.

This technical analysis was vital in researching and planning for our own music video. I was able to see the vast amount of shots needed to fill a music video due to the fast cutting rate. In the past, i have done techincal anylsis' for the opening of a film, which was drastically different in the way that the cutting rate is slower to convey suspense whereas music videos tend have busier shots and use a larger variety of different shots, cutting between performance and narrative.
